Kasbah Swing Band

A collective* ensemble playing big band arrangements of popular and classic jazz, swing, rock and blues vocal and instrumental music, from the likes of: Glen Miller, Woody Herman, Herbie Hancock, ‘Dizzy’ Gillespie, Gershwin, Duke Ellington, Quincy Jones to Freddie Mercury, Norah Jones and Isaac Hayes, to name but a few.

Kasbah’s current working repertoire comprises a mix of over 100 instrumental and vocal versions of well-known classic and popular big band arrangements. The band’s instrumentation comprises: Alto, Tenor & Baritone Saxes, Clarinets, Flute, Trombone, Bassoon, Keyboard, Bass guitar, Drums and Vocalist.

Kasbah was initially formed over 25 years ago as a community ensemble, based at what was then known as King Alfred’s College. The band has performed at events as diverse as the Alresford Watercress and Grattonbury Festivals, the Energise Me Awards event at St. Mary’s Football Stadium, several instrumental showcases at the University of Winchester, the Beggars’ Fair in Romsey, real ale and jazz festivals, plus numerous parties, village fetes and fund-raisers.

Kasbah is available to play at birthday, wedding anniversary and private celebrations, corporate recognition, awards and fund-raiser events.

* The term collective is used because the band’s numbers can vary between 12 to 18, depending on who is available to perform 🙂
