Music, dance and street entertainment will return once again to Romsey at 11am on Saturday 14th July 2018, when the 26th Beggars Fair takes over the town. Expect to see, hear and enjoy over 90 acts spread across 24 venues and all for free at Romsey’s annual Summer Music Festival.
Throughout the streets and in venues all around the town, the best of local musicians bring you an eclectic mix of folk, jazz, blues, soul, rock, bluegrass, classical and world music. Together with colourful dance displays and children’s entertainment there is plenty of entertainment on offer.
From big noisy bands on the Cornmarket main stage to intimate acoustic music in tranquil gardens, cheerful pub sessions and spellbinding storytelling there truly is something for everyone.
The Beggars Fair is an annual event run entirely by a small team of enthusiastic volunteers. It has been running since July 1993 and is living up to its aims of showcasing local talent in a friendly, welcoming environment. The day has a great atmosphere that keeps people and performers returning year after year.
One of the original goals of the first organising committee in 1993 was “to create a new tradition for Romsey, involving musicians, dancers, entertainers and above all audience”. After 25 years this it certainly now is. A truly unique community event and by far the busiest Saturday in Romsey all year. So turn up early!
